5 Runner Questions

These are some of the runners who have blogged recently about these questions:

1. How would you describe your running 10 years ago?

A. I weighed 20 pounds more and had never run.

2. What is your best and worst run/race experience?

A. BEST: I loved the (12)marathons and (6)half marathons ... wouldn't trade the memory of a single one.
WORST: Even the worst races were good for a story or a joke, and none has been fatal.

3. Why do you run?

A. Because I can ... To prove I'm alive ... To eat the healthy food I want to ... To be with my family runners ... To get medals ... To keep my body strong and my brain working ... To have something to blog about ... To stay alive.

4. What is the best or worst piece of advice you've been given about running?

A. I read Runner's World, Running Times and runner's blogs ... lots of good stuff there. Nobody bothers slow old women much with advice. :-)

5. Tell us something surprising about yourself that not many people would know.

A. My cell phone ring tone (in my running shorts pocket) is a piano concerto.

I like your answer to #2. I think if it weren't for the worst races, I'd have a pretty boring running life.

Out of curiosity, which piano concerto is your ring tone?

1. Running - 10 years ago? Why? Of course, since I have started running, I am slim and trim (having lost 60 pounds to running) and I also have more focus to friends, family and exercise.
2. Again... I don't have that much experience. I am still learning and every competition provides more focus to what I need to do to get better.
3. I loved your answer! Can I borrow it here from me to you? So insightful!
4. Don't overdo it! Give yourself a chance! If you push too hard, you can break just as easily. I cannot put my finger on any bad advice - Running bloggers just want to be helpful to each other!
5. Cop out from me! I don't know how to answer that. My friends and family, on the other hand, may have a different answer. My dog, Molly, does not beleive that I have any short comings (aside from paying too much attention to the cat, Bowie).

Hmmm... Not what you were expecting as an answer!

Shirleyperly: about all I learned to play on the piano was church hymns.. but I think the piano concerto might be the most familiar one possible. When we chose it, I don't think the program specified "which" piano concerto! Sweet Pea chose it. What could be finer than to have a ring tone that makes you smile every time!

I also love your answer to number two! It helps put things in perspective. Always something to learn and laugh at somewhere.

Like you, I can remember each of my marathons in detail. The half marathons I would have to spend more time with but I remember them too (especially the one where I ran by the runner being attended to after he got run over by a deer).
