I love that quote, and it rings true in so many things we do. I do motivational speaking to running groups and have a talk about setting goals. I always tell people to set 3 goals before a race, for example: 1. Finish; 2. A reasonable time that you feel you can achieve, and 3. A PR or best case scenario. By setting 3 goals instead of just one, you don't feel like a total failure because PR's only happen rarely, and I see people set their sites only on the ultimate and thus walk away disappointed.
As for the rest of your blog, I found it very interesting and informative. If you get a chance, please visit my running web site, Faithful Soles. I have a categorized and searchable running Blog Database on there and would appreciate it if you would link your blog to it. Thanks.
