Get in Gear 10K

Pre-race pick up, with pouring rain on and off all morning

Pouring rain was sort of sad for all the kids who show up for their race.

Our Serious Runner ran the 10K.
His report: http://minnesotadon.blogspot.com/.

Sweet Pea and I joined the huge gathering at the start and then, cold and soaked, trudged to the car to dry off.
We managed to catch sight of Serious Runner coming in and gave him a cheer.
Here are some finishers heading for the snack and junk food tent.

Hats off to even the slow runners... finishing is good!

This is the broken and patched cobblestone block where I crashed my knee a year ago. Pretty much healed now.

Young opportunist finding fun in the puddles in the broken pavement

Earlier this week, Sweet Pea spotted a red-winged black bird in the park where we ran.

Not ordinarily hardy in Minnesota, this bush was developed by the University of Minnesota. Love the color!

Hi Sunshine-

Thanks for your race report! Your pictures really captured what it was like to run on this gloomy spring day.

I write a weekly round-up of race results and reports for the Minnesota Distance Running Association blog, http://runminnesota.blogspot.com. I took the liberty of adding your race report to the collection. You can see your report there as well as catch up on other runners' reports.

Hi Sunshine! Great, pictures. I was supposed to race yesterday but wimped out because of the rain and ran a 10k on the treadmill instead. Hope you are doing great!

Hey! Good to hear from you, Nat.
You were so smart to get your treadmill done yesterday. We still have to do ours today.

Great photos.

How fun that the little one found fun in the puddles.

Well, no rain, no rainbows. Well done in the wet conditions!

Sunshine: On track to meet you again but dashed plans due to the bad weather. Like Nat, once we heard the thunder, my husband and I decided not to run outdoors....

I admire the fact that you were there to mark the day! Nice job!

Great job to all of you for getting out there in that weather. I was out for a regular run when it started coming down. Love the pictures!

I was thinking that it has been a year since you had your serious injury. Time heals all wounds, doesn't it?
Great pics are always
