More Indoor Track

Warmest it will get today is 14. We went to the community center ... again ... this morning. Resistance/free weight work on Wednesday. Temp will be in low 20's on Thursday, but with a 15 mph wind. So back to the indoor track. Sigh.
I doubt that we will try to do the Valentine 5K around Lake Harriet in Minneapolis on Saturday morning. Friday overnight temp will be the week's lowest.

When I lived in Alaska and it got that cold, we'd go outside with a cup of boiling water, throw it up and watch it turn to slush in the air. I think running around a track is more interesting now!

Good for you for keeping the running going when it'd be way easier to just skip. You're sounding a teensy bit tired of winter - can't imagine why! We had a low of 44 today, high about 52 this afternoon. Still gray, but it feels WARM and it was dry and no ice! I love it.

Oh Sunshine, you have missed most of the blister saga and all the ugly toe pictures. I have tried it all, including blister shield. I've tried wool socks, but am allergic and ended up with both blisters and a bright red rash! That was after Yakima last year. The tale of my feet is a tale of woe.

Not to worry - I think sharing what works for you is great - that's how we get new ideas. And believe me, anything I can get on toes and blisters I'll try!

There's a race here too, and I'm thinking it's just a bit too cold. blah. We need sunshine, Sunshine! :D

We're a balmy 32 degrees in DC but it's really weird. It rained lightly and the temp was absolutely perfect to put a sheen of ice over everything. No running outside today, safety, footing. It's rare in DC to actually not be able to run outside.

I thought about doing that race but also decided against it when I saw the cold pattern this winter. I am sure you could still get your shirt at Marathon Sports if you signed up already. I know last year they had early shirt pick-up? Stay warm!

Thanks for the nice comment! I hope I didn't make it sound like your hard-luck stories in the cold weather brought me cheer during my race. I would hate to sound like I felt joy because of someone else's misery. Reminding myself of your positive attitude helped in some of the hard parts of the marathon :)
