What a great read, Sunshine. I'm so happy you pointed us in this woman's direction. She speaks the truth!

Great story! I like her attitude! One thing I've noticed over the 20 years I have been running is the change in the types/sizes of people who run now as opposed to those who ran back then. Of course, some runners' shapes may have changed from aging, but most I would guess is because its an every person's sport now and not just for the thin and fast.

Indeed, 6 yrs ago when I went to run my first 1/2 marathon, which was held in conjunction with a full marathon, I was very nervous that I'd be out of place being a 40 yr old woman who'd never run competitively in high school or college. When I started running back in the 70s, races were only for those who were fast. Joggers like me did not run races. Imagine my surprise to see people of all ages, sizes and shapes there. Things have definitely changed and one of the most enjoyable aspects of working PT at the race desk of a running store is encouraging someone like myself, a non-traditional athlete, to sign up for their first race.

She's out there running, that's all that matters. I run so I can eat that ice cream whenever I want to.
