Marathon Recovery

In 2009 I will be in a new age group... and I am hoping to be training for it.

We are on schedule!
Recent Activity ... in reverse order:

Resistance training ... Wednesday, July 2, at home
10 miles ... Tuesday, July 1, Gateway Trail
6.3 miles ... Sunday, June 29, Gateway Trail
5K ... Saturday, June 28, North of Stillwater
45 minutes ... Wednesday, June 25, County Park
26.2 miles ... Saturday, June 21, Grandma's Marathon

(See previous posts for MARATHON REPORT)

When we run through this part of Gateway, I think of other oak woods I have seen... the Oaks in New Orleans where we ran in the marathon there .... the oaks of James Island, South Carolina, when we ran the Kiawah Island Half Marathon.

Just about 80 when we ran this morning, with a little breeze, but that sun was high in the sky by the time we finished mile 10. Summer is here.

Great post-Grandmas training!

I was on the Gateway today (but just the first few miles) around 8:30 am. LOVE that trail!!

Wendy.. Apology: I mis-typed.. the marathon was Saturday, not Sunday.. but even so, Wednesday came around pretty soon.

Envious of your wooded run path. Sigh...

It looks like the recovery is going well. Back up to 10 miles already. Hard to stay inside with that beautiful weather.

So here is the "problem" with triathlons. For sanctioned events, you race in the age group for the age you will be on 12/31.

That means for me, I'm racing this year under my "new" age bracket.

The good news is that it is helping me say the age without wimpering.

The other good news is that the higher the bracket goes, the less of us there are out there!

SOOO glad that summer is here!

Summer is definitely here in DC. I ran a mile, my first run since leaving Las Vegas for the Grand Canyon 10 days ago, and it about killed me. I ave a long way to go. Good luck with your M. recovery!
